Students are asked to write about three different characteristics of a character and give proof (examples from the story) to support each characteristic. In Language Arts, students have been discussing the characteristics of characters. What are characteristics? It is the parts of a person's personality that generally do not change. It does not include the likes/dislikes of a person nor the person's physical appearance. Here is a list of some of the characteristics that could be used to describe a character in a story. Here is an example of three characteristics of the character Edmond from "The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" by C.S. Lewis that we did together as a class. Notice how we wrote in paragraph form by indenting the first line and including introductory and concluding sentences. While reading together at home, ask your child to pause and tell you some characteristics of a character from the story including examples from the story to prove each characteristic!
Students played the "Scribble Game" today during Art. Ask your child to explain how to play. Play at home and explore your imagination!
Students are diligently working on those 2 digit x 1 digit math problems. Some students are showing their thinking and their work using the ShowMe app!
Lydia and Grace remind us how to use the standard algorithm to multiply 2 digit x 1 digit. We reviewed what we have already learned about multiplying a 2 digit number by a 1 digit number. The standard algorithm was introduced along with other strategies. We had lots of discussion around what is the most efficient strategy to use! The following video will help reinforce how to use the standard algorithm to multiply 2 digit x 1 digit. Saidat visited our school today with an abundance of energy and hip hop moves to teach us all about using a growth mindset because we are WORTH IT! Check out her website http://www.saidat.ca!
